Plan Be

What's this?

St Mary’s youth group

Who is Jesus? Can someone who lived 2,000 years ago really make a difference to life here and now? Come and find out, meet people who have discovered that difference for themselves; ask questions, find answers. No pressure, just a pleasant, informal time together. Every journey starts with a single step - this could be yours!

You'll find someone about any time between 6.30 and 8pm.
Drop in if you can!

So what are we up to?

We meet on Sunday evenings at 6.30pm at the church for some music, dance or drama. There is a resident piano, but if you play something more portable, bring it along and join in! You are also welcome to just sit and listen or watch if you prefer. This is followed by a discussion about issues facing the world and young people today and a look at what the Bible has to say about life in the 21st century.

Coming up

Sunday, 18th July – Ignite at Burgess Hill, 4-7pm. With human table football, inflatables, assault course, and a barbecue this sounds like a lot of fun.

Plan Be?

Are you familiar with 'The Beattitudes'? Read Matthew chapter 5, verses 3 to 12. They present a great challenge to the way we live. For encouragement, have a look at wecan.be where I found this interpretation of these famous sayings of Jesus:

Blessed are the poor - or poor in spirit – who do not trust in status or riches
Blessed are those who mourn – who grieve over the injustice in the world
Blessed are the meek – who get angry but who never get aggressive
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness - who seek justice
Blessed are the merciful – who are compassionate to everyone in need
Blessed are the pure in heart – who are whole-hearted in desire to do right
Blessed are the peacemakers – who work for peace in a world at war
Blessed are those persecuted for righteousness - who suffer for just causes

and consider these pledges:
I will identify with the poor ‘in spirit’.
I will grieve over injustice in the world.
I will get angry, but never get aggressive.
I will seek to do justice, even to my enemies.
I will extend compassion to all those in need.
I will act with integrity, not for the publicity.
I will work for peace in the midst of violence.
I will suffer myself, rather than inflict suffering.
